President: Peter Kim
Hello! My name is Peter Kim and I am the President of the Trauma Interest Group for the academic year 2022. I am interested in trauma because I love to think on my feet, treat a wide range of patient populations, and be part of the hands-on treatment process! Interesting facts about me are that I love to learn and play instruments, enjoy cooking and painting, and go snowboarding!
Vice President: Lindsay Kohen
Hi everyone, my name is Lindsay Kohan and I am very excited to be serving as Vice President of the Trauma Interest Group! I am from Montgomery County, Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in spring 2021. After working as a scribe in an ER during undergrad, I realized that I really enjoy working in a high acuity, fast-paced setting. Trauma surgery is also one of the few specialties that is generally an even split between medicine and surgery, which I find very enticing. In such a specialty, you have the ability to care for patients of all ages, head-to-toe, and from all backgrounds, which is something I am very passionate about. Some fun facts about me are that I have a B.A. in French language/literature, enjoy surfing, and play the French horn. Learning the French language and playing the French horn were unrelated decisions!
Treasurer: Tiffany Cao
I'm Tiffany Cao, the 2022-2023 TIG secretary! My interest in trauma started with my volunteering and research in the Critical Care Resuscitation Unit and Shock Trauma over the past 3 years at Maryland, where I was able to learn more about patient care & advocacy in the stressful environment that is Shock Trauma.
Secretary: Lauren Sands
I'm Lauren Sands. I grew up in Glen Arm, Maryland and attended Wake Forest University for undergrad. I enjoy traveling and trying new experiences. I even tried ice climbing in Alaska! The summer before my junior year, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to shadow in Shock Trauma for a 24-hour shift. From that amazing experience, I realized that I have a strong desire to learn more about trauma medicine.
